THAILAND: Overseas Business Licence Requirement Set to be Waived in Three Service Sectors

Overseas investors will no longer require business licences to operate in three service industry sectors – lending, office space rental and consultancy – providing such services are only extended to subsidiaries or affiliates of non-Thai headquartered businesses. In the case of consultancy work, this is further limited with only activities related to management, marketing, human resources or technology evaluation given official sanction.

The changes are set to be enacted through a series of amendments to the country’s existing Foreign Business Act (FBA) and will come into force before the end of 2019.
