China Adopts “Entry First, Inspection Next” Policy for Animal / Plant Imports

Under the terms of the newly-introduced “entry first, inspection next” policy, all animal / plant imports that require further inspection following the completion of the relevant quarantine procedures may initially be dispatched to a customs-supervised warehouse within one of the country’s comprehensive bonded zones. Subsequent to this, the customs authorities may then conduct the required sample inspection and comprehensive assessment prior to initiating any statutory follow-up actions.

These requirements came into effect as of 27 February this year.
