China Customs Rolls Out 50 Anti-Covid-19 Measures

The General Administration of Customs issued the List of Measures for Co-ordinating Epidemic Prevention and Control and Customs Clearance Facilitation at Ports on 19 March 2020, detailing 50 measures for customs offices throughout the country to strictly prevent imported cases of Covid-19 while supporting enterprises in resuming work and production. The List of Measures stresses the need to make all-out efforts in epidemic prevention and control and strictly curb the cross-border spread of the coronavirus. All customs offices are required to implement random checks and express inspection in line with the development of the pandemic situation, strengthen quarantine on vehicles of transportation, enhance health declaration at ports of entry, and strictly curb imported cases and the spread of the coronavirus via ports of entry. The presence of consignees is not required for cargo inspection to enforce ‘distancing’. While ensuring the express customs clearance of epidemic prevention supplies, greater efforts will be made to intercept and crack down on substandard epidemic prevention supplies at ports.
