China Extends Deadline for Filing and Paying Withholding Taxes for 2019

After consulting with the Ministry of Finance, the State Taxation Administration decided to extend the deadline for filing and paying withholding taxes for the year 2019 from 30 March to 30 May 2020 in order to further support anti-Covid-19 measures, help enterprises keep employment stable, and alleviate the difficulties of enterprises. The State Taxation Administration also required the tax offices at all levels to further optimise the handling procedures, strengthen auditing and accounting, and promptly process payment in accordance with a joint circular issued by the Ministry of Finance, the State Taxation Administration and the People’s Bank of China (Cai Xing No. 11 [2019]).
