China Lifts Ban on Import of Cloven-Hoofed Animals and Animal Products from Japan

Based on the latest risk assessments, China’s General Administration of Customs and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly announced on 19 December 2019 the lifting of a ban in relation to the 2010 outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Japan (Announcement No. 200 [2019]).

Cloven-hoofed animals and animal products from Japan meeting the specified requirements may now be imported into China once again. A joint announcement made by the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the former Ministry of Agriculture (Announcement No. 45 [2010]) was repealed on the same day.
