China’s Reform Committee Prioritises Supply-Side Optimisation and Furthers Market Opening

China’s Central Committee for Deepening Overall Reform has designated supply-side, market-oriented structural reforms and the maintenance of a high-standard in its expanded opening-up programme as its priorities going forward. It has also reconfirmed its commitment to its rural revitalisation programme and undertaken to ensure further agricultural supply-side structural reforms are implemented in line with the agreed sustainable agricultural development strategy.

The Committee’s statement followed its 26 November session, which also saw a number of reports and strategy documents formally approved, including Opinions on Building A More Perfect Market-Oriented System for the Allocation of Factors of Production, Opinions on Improving the System for Supporting and Protecting Agriculture, Opinions on Deepening the Reform of China’s Medical Insurance System, and Guiding Opinions on Building A Modern Environmental Governance System.
