China to Impose Retaliatory Tariffs on US$60 Billion Raft of US Imports

In response to the US government’s 10 May move to increase the additional tariffs on US$200 billion worth of Chinese goods from 10% to 25 %, China has announced plans to raise the additional tariffs imposed on $60 billion worth of goods of US origin to the following rates:

  • An additional 25% tariff on 2,493 items listed in Appendix 1
  • An additional 20% tariff on 1,078 items listed in Appendix 2
  • An additional 10% tariff on 974 items listed in Appendix 3
  • The existing 5% tariff, meanwhile, will continue to apply to 595 items listed in Appendix 4

The new tariffs are scheduled to come into effect as of 1 June 2019.
