Guangdong to Implement Free Trade Zone Lessons on Province-Wide Basis

The lessons learnt from the success of the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone are to be put into practice across the province, according to a statement from the Guangdong People’s Government.

In particular, this will see three measures widely adopted:

  • The scope and application of the Internet + Customs initiative is to be broadened in a bid to  both accelerate the clearance of maritime import / export containers and to optimise the mechanism for testing the sulphur content of marine fuels
  • The construction of global hub warehouses and the formal adoption of a cross-border e-commerce system that allows goods to be imported to special customs supervision zones prior to the implementation of any statutory confirmatory procedures
  • The promotion of commercial dispute mediation via digital devices, the formalisation of rules relating to the validity of online evidence, a clarification of the legal status of Hong Kong / Macao-related evidential-focussed commercial matters and the adoption of an enhanced intellectual property rights protection regime for the import / export sector
