Hong Kong-Sourced Button Mushrooms Cleared for Mainland Import
Hong Kong-grown button mushrooms (Agaricus Bisporus) may now be imported to the mainland, provided they comply with all the stipulations of the Inspection and Quarantine Requirements for Hong Kong Button Mushroom Exported to the Mainland, as specified by the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
Among the specified requirements are the following:
- Requirements for Producers
Any enterprise producing or processing button mushrooms for export to the mainland must inform the GAC after being officially approved by the competent authorities in Hong Kong and completing the registration formalities required for GAC verification
- Plant Quarantine Requirements
All such goods must comply with all applicable mainland and Hong Kong laws and regulations and be in receipt of Hong Kong quarantine approval
- Plant Quarantine Certification Requirements
Every batch of button mushrooms exported from Hong Kong to the mainland must be accompanied by a plant quarantine certificate as issued by the official plant protection agency in Hong Kong
- Food Safety Requirements
All button mushrooms exported to the mainland must comply with the relevant national food safety standards
- Packaging Requirements
All such goods must be individually-packaged using first-use packaging materials that are clean, hygienic and comply with all mainland plant quarantine and food safety requirements
