Argentina Extends Deadlines for Certain Auto Parts to Obtain Approval Certificate

Argentinean authorities have modified the effective dates of a requirement for certain new automotive parts and safety elements intended for the after-market segment to obtain the approval certificate for automotive parts and safety elements (certificado de homologación de autopartes y elementos de seguridad, or CHAS) in accordance with Resolution 91/2001. The new effective dates are indicated below.

  • structural shock absorbers (McPherson), in accordance with standard IRAM/AITA 4-D3 – 18 January 2020
  • discharge lamp ballasts, in accordance with UN standard R10 – 22 July 2019
  • high-visibility safety vests, in accordance with IRAM 3859 or EU Directives 89/686 and 96/58 – 6 June 2020
  • locks and door retention systems for M1 and N1 vehicles, in accordance with UN standard R11 – 20 October 2019
  • protection for unauthorised use (steering wheel locks) for M1 and N1 vehicles, in accordance with UN standard R116 – 20 October 2019
  • child retention systems, in accordance with IRAM/AITA 3680, UN standard R44, UN standard R129 or FMVSS 213 – 6 June 2020
  • airbag replacement systems, in accordance with UN standard R 114 – 22 July 2019
  • master cylinders for brakes, in accordance with IRAM/AITA 6-E4 – 6 June 2020
  • air brake chamber diaphragms, in accordance with IRAM/AITA 6-G2 – 18 January 2020
  • brake wheel cylinders, in accordance with IRAM/AITA 6-A2 – 6 June 2020
  • brake flexibles, in accordance with IRAM/AITA 6-F1 – 18 January 2020
  • brake pails, in accordance with IRAM/AITA 6-A1 – 18 January 2020
  • trailer and semi-trailer axles, in accordance with IRAM 10258 – 22 July 2019
  • bumpers for trailed equipment trailers and semi-trailers for cargo vehicles, in accordance with IRAM 10260 – 18 January 2020
