Possible Amended Energy Efficiency Standards for Microwave Ovens and Hot Water Storage Tanks Under Consideration

Microwave Ovens. Comments may be submitted by 27 September on whether amended energy efficiency standards for these products would result in a significant amount of additional energy savings and are technologically feasible and economically justified.

Unfired Hot Water Storage Tanks. Comments may be submitted by 23 September on whether amended energy efficiency standards for these products would result in a significant amount of additional energy savings and are technologically feasible and economically justified.

Cooking Products. Comments may be submitted by 8 October on a proposal to withdraw the energy test procedures for conventional cooking tops established under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act. The DOE has tentatively determined that the conventional cooking top test procedure may not accurately represent consumer use for gas cooking tops, may not be repeatable or reproducible for both gas and electric cooking tops, and is overly burdensome to conduct.

Clothes Dryers. The DOE will hold a public meeting on 28 August to consider a previously announced proposal to amend the current energy test procedures for clothes dryers to provide additional direction in response to questions from manufacturers and test laboratories.
