U.S. Announces Trade Mission to Hong Kong in Conjunction with Trade Winds Indo Pacific Business Forum

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration is organising a trade mission to Hong Kong in April 2020 that will include the Trade Winds Indo Pacific business forum. While the Trade Winds Indo Pacific forum is not limited to U.S. companies participating in the trade mission, mission participants will benefit from consultations with U.S. Foreign Commercial Service senior commercial officers and business matchmaking with scheduled business-to-business meetings. Trade mission participants may also participate in additional stops in South Korea, Japan, Thailand and/or Vietnam.

According to the ITA, this structure ensures that clients can explore up to three of their best prospects for business at each location, including 32 matchmaking opportunities in Hong Kong. All participants will arrive in Hong Kong on 21 April 2020 to participate in the Trade Winds Business Forum, as well as in optional consultations, market briefings, business-to-business meetings and other networking opportunities during 22-24 April 2020. Each trade mission stop will include one-on-one business appointments with pre-screened potential buyers, agents, distributors and joint-venture partners, as well as networking events.

The mission is open to U.S. companies from a cross-section of industries with growth potential in Hong Kong and the Indo Pacific region, including aerospace and defence, consumer goods, energy, franchising, healthcare, environmental technologies, information and communication technologies, design and construction, and environmental technologies. A minimum of 40 companies and/or trade associations will be selected to participate in the mission, based on the submission of an application package. Recruitment for the mission begins immediately and will conclude no later than 6 March 2020. After that date, applications will be considered only if space and scheduling constraints permit.
