New IPR Probe of High-Density Fibre Optic Equipment. The USITC has initiated an investigation to determine whether imports of certain high-density fibre optic equipment and components thereof from various sources, including mainland China, are violating Section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act by reason of patent infringement. Specifically, the investigation covers equipment and components thereof consisting of (i) a chassis with sliding trays that fits within the standardised racks used in data centres, and (ii) removable modules that are inserted into the sliding trays of the chassis, wherein the chassis and modules are used to terminate large numbers of fibre-optic cables using standardised connectors (at least 98 connections per standard rack unit). The complainant requests that after this investigation the USITC issue a general exclusion order as well as cease and desist orders.
