The Information Technology Agreement (ITA), an agreement enforced by the WTO with effect from 1 July 1997, provides for participants to completely eliminate duties on designated IT products, components and sub-assemblies, while reviewing the product coverage periodically. There are currently some 80 participants to the ITA (including the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong), with their aggregate trade in those products covered by the agreement constituting some 97% of world share.
