Make in India Initiative (MIII) was launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2014, with the primary goal of transforming India into a global manufacturing hub. Led by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, the initiative aims to increase the GDP contribution of the manufacturing sector to 25% by 2025. MIII targets 25 industry sectors, including automobile, textiles, construction and information technology, with the objective to boost local manufacturing and facilitate job creation. The second edition of the MIII was launched in early 2018, focusing on futuristic segments such as robotics and chemicals.
