WHY: China’s Belt and Road Initiative is designed to enhance the orderly free-flow of trade and the efficient allocation of resources by expanding business cooperation between East and West, from Asia to Europe via Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, West Asia and the Middle East.
The “Belt” and “Road” refer to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, respectively. The Initiative offers companies unparalleled opportunities to tap new markets and explore the tremendous potential of the Chinese mainland, ASEAN countries and many other economies along the Belt and Road.
To maximise networking opportunities for summit participants, an exhibition will be staged concurrently.

And You Can Quote Me: “The Belt and Road Initiative is a game-changer for Asia and the world. The HKTDC plays the role of catalyst in Hong Kong’s position as a “super-connector” under the Initiative. With our vast international network and contact with industry leaders, government organisations and industry associations, we are devising a series of programmes to facilitate connectivity and business integration for the Belt and Road era.” (HKTDC Chairman Vincent Lo)
