BANGLADESH: SEZ Investors Freed from VAT and Import Duty Liabilities

Investors in the country’s special economic zones (SEZs) are now exempt from VAT and the payment of import duties on items deemed essential for the development of such facilities. Although both domestic and overseas investors are eligible for these incentives, the duty exemption only applies to items that cannot be sourced locally.  Similarly, general office equipment and household items are not duty exempt.
