BRUNEI: Manufacturing-Focussed FTZ Gets Official Green Light

In a bid to attract more FDI into the oil-rich Sultanate, Brunei’s government has unveiled plans to develop a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) for the manufacturing sector. While no date for the completion of the project has been announced, the proposed FTZ has already received official assent.

The proposed site of the FTZ, which will have a focus on both exports and re-exports, is a 96-hectare plot in the Kampong Terunjing area of the country’s northern Brunei-Muara district. This will see it set close to the Muara Port, the country’s only deep-water port facility.
