CAMBODIA: Halal Certification Launched for Exported Food Products

Cambodia’s first ever halal certification and label is now on offer for producers and exporters of foodstuffs as well as for restaurant businesses. Applications have to be made to the Secretariat of the Cambodian Halal Logo Steering Committee, and the requisite certificate will be issued after the applicant’s product has been evaluated by a technical committee.

An initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and the Highest Council for Islamic Religious Affairs of Cambodia, the country’s halal label has been launched as part of the government’s bid to make Cambodian products more competitive in the international market, especially among the world’s estimated 1.9 billion global Muslim consumers.
