CAMBODIA: Monthly Minimum Wage in the Garment Sector to Increase to US$170 from 1 January 2018

The monthly minimum wage in Cambodia’s garment and footwear sectors will increase from US$153 to US$170 as of 1 January 2018. The announcement was made by the country’s Labour Ministry on 5 October following a vote in the government’s Labour Advisory Committee (LAC).

The wage increase will apply to the country’s nearly one million garment and footwear workers, following an assurance made by Prime Minister Hun Sen in August 2017 of a pay rise to at least US$168 along with other benefits.
