CAMBODIA: Online Certificate of Origin System Extended to Laos Border Province

The country’s online Certificate of Origin (CO) system has been extended to the province of Stung Treng on the country’s border with Laos, as well as to two other provinces bordering Vietnam - Kratie and Mondulkiri. The system was previously only operational in the two Vietnam-bordering provinces of Ratanakkiri and Tboung Khmum, as well as in Battambang, Pailin, Banteay Meanchey and Oddar Meanchey, four of the country’s Thai-bordering provinces.

The system, which allows local businesses to apply for/print a CO via the official website of their local commerce department, is expected to be implemented nationwide by the end of this year. Once fully operational, it is hoped that it will cut down on the time the country’s businesses currently spend on paperwork and on applying in person for COs in Phnom Penh.
