INDIA: Customs Duty on Open Cell Displays Cut from 10% to 5%

The Indian government has cut the Basic Customs Duty (BCD) on imported open cell displays for LED and LCD television panels from 10% to 5%. The duty cut is applicable on all imported open cell displays of 15.6 inches and above.

The move is believed to be aimed at boosting the domestic manufacturing of LED and LCD television panels in line with the government’s Make in India initiative. Previously, the government had raised the BCD on finished television panels to 15% in a bid to curtail imports.
