INDIA: Duty Free Re-Import of Exported Electronic Goods Given Go-Ahead

Some 23 categories of locally-produced electronic goods previously exported from the country have been approved to be re-imported prior to again being exported. All such items will be exempt from import duty provided they are re-imported within seven years of their initial export. All such items must then be re-exported, after being repaired or refurbished, within a year of their re-import date.

Among the electronics categories cleared to be re-imported are mobile phones, printers, projectors, photocopiers, colour televisions, LCD/LED panels, and certain medical devices.
