INDIA: End Looms for Direct In-Port Collection of Imported Cargo Containers

In a bid to end congestion at India’s ports, containerised cargo is set to be transported for processing to external Container Freight Stations (CFS) within 24 hours import. The proposed move to re-route such cargo marks the return of a pre-2017 practice and replaces the currently-prevailing Direct Port Delivery (DPD) scheme, which sees processed containers handed over to recipients within the precincts of the port.

A date for the implementation of the new arrangement has yet to be announced.
