INDIA: Proof of Registered Office Location Made Mandatory in Shell Company Crackdown

As part of the government’s ongoing crackdown on the prevalence of shell companies, all currently-active companies (including all those that were incorporated in the country on or before 31 December 2017) are to be obliged to provide photographs of their registered offices as well as to specify their exact locations, including their precise latitude and longitude. All such materials and data must be submitted online on or before 25 April this year via the newly-introduced Active Company Tagging Identities and Verification (e-Form INC-22A).

Non-compliant companies will be barred from carrying out several specified functions, including making any amendments to their authorised or paid-up capital.

Further details and the prescribed format of e-Form INC-22A can be found here.
