INDONESIA: 1,147 Imported Consumer Products Targeted for Price Hike

Tariffs are to be increased by up to 7.5% for some 1,147 imported consumer goods that are seen as either non-essentials or that have domestically-produced equivalents. In the case of kitchen appliances, personal care items and cosmetics, the relevant taxes will rise from 2.5% to 10%, for ceramics, audio speakers and swimwear, the rise will be from 2.5% to 7.5%, and for luxury goods, the increase will be from 7.5% to 10%. The tax on some 57 imported inputs used in the domestic manufacturing industry, however, will stay at 2.5%.

It is expected that the new tax levels will be rolled out from 15 September onwards.
