INDONESIA: Eight Additional Ports Granted International Status

Eight additional ports are to be granted international status - Muara Sabak (Jambi province); Ciwandan, Cigading, and Merak Mas (Banten province); Belinyu and Tanjung Pandang Bangka Belitung Islands province); Sorong (Papua province); and Tanjung Batu (Riau Islands province).

The move, seen as a bid to cut logistics costs and increase export competitivity, takes the country’s total number of such facilities to 149. As yet, no date has been announced for these newly-approved ports to commence international operations.
