INDONESIA: Import Permit Processing for Export Inputs Cut to Just One Hour

Import permits for raw materials and other inputs required for the manufacture of export goods in Indonesia can now be secured in just one hour, a massive improvement on the previous 30-day turnaround time. While this is the most high-profile instance of the government’s commitment to streamlining the country’s business-related import and export procedures, it is far from the only example.

The licence processing time relating to goods stored in bonded zones has been cut from 10 days to just one hour, while importer identification numbers can be obtained in three days rather than 10. The required tax refund processing time for export/import-oriented businesses has also been cut, dropping from one year to just a month.
