KAZAKHSTAN: Online Customs Clearance System Piloted Prior to 2017 National Roll-Out

The country’s first online customs clearance system is being piloted in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital city. Billed as Astana-1, the system will allow importers and exporters to register and submit customs declaration forms online, as well as having the facility to accept payments and designate customs posts.

It is hoped that the system will minimise fraud and duty evasion through the online verification of users’ details. The system will be extended to Almaty, the country’s largest city, by September 2016, with a national roll-out expected before the end of June 2017.
