LAOS: Application Procedure for New National Standards Accreditation Announced

Companies looking to secure the rights to certify their products as in compliance with the country’s newly-introduced National Standards system must first secure a permit from the Department of Standardization and Metrology. All applications must detail the compliance of the item in question, as well as including all relevant documentation and a number of product samples.

The largely voluntary system can only be applied to domestically-manufactured and distributed items. In certain product sectors – most particularly these related to health, safety and environmental protection – however, their use will be mandatory.

Further details, as well as a guide to the official specifications of the new standards, can be accessed here.
