LAOS: Investors Sought as Work Begins on the Luang Prabang SEZ

Preliminary work on the US$1.2 billion Luang Prabang special economic zone (SEZ) has begun, with proposals from businesses interested in investing in the project already being solicited. Once completed, the site will extend across an area of 4,850 hectares and offer concessions of up to 99 years.

Set 10km from the town of Luang Prabang, the SEZ is intended to boost the economic growth of a region currently best known as the home of  Laos’ first UNESCO World Heritage Site. No formal date has been announced for the completion of work on the SEZ, which is being developed by the Phousy Group, one of Laos’ leading construction companies.
