LAOS: Vientiane Businesses Set to Lose Licences if Back Taxes Not Cleared by 30 April

Businesses based in Vientiane, the national capital, have until 30 April to pay any overdue taxes, with those that fail to meet this deadline likely to have their business licences revoked. Companies must also register their business plans with the Vientiane Tax Division or the city’s Industry and Commerce Department by the same date.

Prior to the announcement of the deadline, 3,039 of the city’s businesses were suspended from trading as they were more than a year behind with their tax returns. Following further investigations, it emerged that a number of them had ceased operating without informing the relevant authorities.
