MALAYSIA: Pilot Phase of Streamlined Intra-ASEAN Customs Clearance Set to Commence

The pilot phase of the National Single Window (NSW) system will begin this month. The system, designed to streamline customs clearance, will eventually be fully integrated with the ASEAN Single Window (ASW) data sharing system.[1]

The pilot phase will allow for a limited exchange of data with four of the other currently participating countries - Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Ultimately, the NSW system will be extended to cover all import/export documentation while also being adopted by all members of the ASEAN bloc. An official date for full implementation has yet to be announced.
