MYANMAR: Import-Export Restrictions on Gold and Gold Products Now Lifted

Gold and items of gold are now permitted to be imported to and exported from Myanmar, following a recent move by Myanmar’s Ministry of Commerce recently to remove gold from the list of items prohibited from export and import.

The move has arisen as a response to the recent fall in domestic demand amid rising prices of gold and gold products, while the government aims to regularise the domestic industry and stem the informal trade in gold.
