MYANMAR: Online Customs Clearance System Goes Live in Yangon as of 12 November

The country’s first online customs clearance system goes live in Yangon as of 12 November. Known as the Myanmar Automated Cargo Clearance System (MACCS), the new service will be operational at both Yangon International Airport and at the nearby Thilawa Port and Special Economic Zone.

The system, which allows importers and exporters to digitally submit customs forms, and provides an online platform for the payment of taxes and other associated fees, completed a three-month trial run  earlier this year. The system will eventually be rolled out to cover all of the country’s land, sea and air entry points, though no firm date has been announced.
