SRI LANKA: Private Company Registration Fee Cut by 73%

The fee for the registration of a Private Limited Company has been reduced from LKR 15000 (US$97) to LKR 4000 (US$26). The fee cut, which was officially announced by Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce on 4 May, will have a retrospective effect from 1 January 2017.

While the fee for the registration of a Public Limited Company has been increased from LKR 15000 (US$97) to LKR 20000 (US$130), the government stated that 93% of new companies registered in 2016 were private limited companies.
