THAILAND: Eight-Year Tax Break Introduced for Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Companies

Pharmaceutical and medical equipment manufacturers will be free of any obligation to pay corporate income tax (CIT) for eight years as part of a new incentive package introduced by the Board of Investment.

While all such companies applying for the tax break before the end of 2017 will be eligible for the full eight-years, those applying in 2018 and in any subsequent period will only enjoy a five year moratorium. SMEs involved in the qualifying sectors, however, will be eligible for an additional two-year waiver regardless of their date of application.
