THAILAND: Foreigners Excluded from Draft Law Allowing Company Registration by Sole Individuals

Foreign nationals will be excluded from a proposed new law which will allow sole individuals to register businesses in Thailand. As per current regulations, sole individuals are barred from registering a company; at least two people are required to register a partnership company and at least three people are required to register a limited company.

The Thai Commerce Ministry will present the proposed law to the Thai cabinet, who is expected to pass the legislation early next year. The draft law, if enacted, is expected to increase the number of new businesses in the country by 100%.
