THAILAND: Online Settlement System Introduced for Customs Liabilities

All customs payments – including export/import levies and air cargo/port fees –  can now be made via the online banking services of one of four of the country’s leading banking groups: Bangkok Bank (BBL), Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), Kasikornbank (KBank) and Krungthai Bank (KTB). As a result, importers/exporters are no longer obliged to settle such costs in person at the offices of the country’s Customs Service.

It is hoped that this new facility will reduce the operating costs of commercial enterprises, while also improving the country’s ranking on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index.
