UAE: New Standards and Online Tracking Introduced to Combat Counterfeit Automotive Spare Parts

Importers and manufacturers of automotive spare parts will have to conform to new technical and safety standards under changes proposed by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA).

The move is intended to curb the sale of counterfeit auto components, with the ESMA also planning to launch a database that will keep track of all the official automotive spare parts manufactured and imported into the country.

No date has yet been announced for the implementation of the new legislation.
