UAE: Online Registration for Incoming VAT to Commence from Mid-September

The online registration of businesses for the UAE’s value added tax (VAT) regime will commence from mid-September. To facilitate the process, the UAE’s Federal Tax Authority has launched a website www.tax.gov.ae to provide information and guidance on the incoming levy.

Scheduled to come into effect from 1 January 2018, VAT is being implemented by the UAE government as part of its bid to develop new income streams as the country continues its diversification programme and reduces its reliance on oil revenues. For details, see UAE: 5% VAT Set to be Implemented from 1 January 2018, exemptions allowed.
