UAE: Planned Real Estate Portal Set to Eliminate Property Middlemen by 2020

With the aim of having all real estate transactions conducted online by 2020, the Dubai Land Department, the government’s land and property agency, has announced plans to launch a comprehensive portal capable of handling every aspect of land purchase, as well as all commercial and residential property rental requirements. Billed as Real Estate Self-Transaction (REST), the portal is intended to eliminate the need for property middlemen, while facilitating real estate transactions on a global basis.

With a team of developers already at work on the portal, it is expected to go live within two years and will form part of the Dubai X10 initiative, a government-backed scheme intended to “keep Dubai 10 years ahead of other world cities.”
