VIETNAM: Compulsory Formaldehyde Testing on Fabric Imports Scrapped

Fabrics imported into Vietnam for manufacturing and processing purposes no longer need to have their formaldehyde levels checked. Businesses in the garment sector have previously complained that the compulsory test was too expensive and too time-consuming.

Typically, companies had to pay formaldehyde inspection fee of VND1.5-2.5million (US$68-90) per sample of imported fabric.
