VIETNAM: HCMC Ports Trial One-Stop Cargo Clearance System

An automated cargo clearance system is being trialled at two of Ho Chi Minh City’s (HCMC) port facilities – the Lotus Port and the SP-ITC International Container Terminal. Should the trial prove successful, the system will be rolled out across HCMC’s other exit and entry points – including Tan Son Nhat International Airport – as a means of streamlining customs procedures through the provision of a one-stop service for importers and exporters.

Once adopted, the new cargo clearance system will supersede the current system, which sees importers and exporters obliged to liaise with a number of different agencies – including customs authorities, port operators, warehousing service providers and freight forwarders – in order to obtain cargo clearance.
