VIETNAM: Ho Chi Minh City Government Reveals 40-strong Privatisation List

Some 40 of the businesses currently owned and operated by the local government in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) are to be privatised by 2020. In all but three of the businesses, the government is looking to retain a stake of less than 50%. The three exceptions are the Sai Gon Industry Corporation (CNS), 27-7 HCM City, and HCM City Greenery Parks, with the state set to maintain a 50-65% stake in each of the companies after 2020.

Heading the list of companies to be privatised are Saigontourist Holding Company (Saigontourist), the Sai Gon Trading Group (Satra), Sai Gon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (Samco), Sai Gon Water Corporation (Sawaco), and the Sai Gon Jewellery Company (SJC).
