VIETNAM: One-Stop Cargo Clearance System Set for September Rollout

Plans are in place to extend the use of an automated cargo clearance system to all of the ports and airports in 11 of the country’s major cities and provinces by September 2018. At present, this one-stop cargo clearance system is solely in use at a limited number of port facilities in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), the country’s business hub, and the northern city of Haiphong. This new move will see the system enter use in all port and airports in HCMC and Haiphong, as well as in Hanoi, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Danang, Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa and Can Tho.

Operating as a one-stop service, the new clearance system will free importers and exporters from the need to liaise with multiple agencies, while also allowing for standardised customs forms to be submitted electronically.  Ultimately, the system will be integrated with the ASEAN Single Window data-sharing system.
