VIETNAM: Stricter Regime Adopted for All Frozen Meat Products

Under the terms of new regulations, jointly issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), all frozen meat products must be certified by an approved veterinary inspection agency with regard to their point of origin and quality. The regulations also detail the technical specifications that must be met at each stage of the production, storage and distribution process. The move is aimed at regulating the quality of imported products, as well as improving the competitiveness of the country’s domestic meat-processing industry.
