AQSIQ Cancels Designation of Pre-shipment Inspection Agencies for Imported Used Mechanical and Electrical Products

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) released the Decision on Amending the Administrative Measures for the Supervision and Inspection of Imported Used Mechanical and Electrical Products on 17 March 2017 (AQSIQ Decree No. 187 [2017]) (see details in Chinese), clearly stating its decision to amend the Administrative Measures for the Supervision and Inspection of Imported Used Mechanical and Electrical Products promulgated in 2015 (see details in Chinese). This was done pursuant to the State Council’s decision to abolish or delegate to the lower levels administrative approval items and to further make clear the cancellation of the designation of pre-shipment inspection agencies for imported used mechanical and electrical products. The amended document clearly states that “AQSIQ will not designate inspection agencies for the pre-shipment inspection of imported used mechanical and electrical products”.

The Administrative Measures for the Supervision and Inspection of Imported Used Mechanical and Electrical Products amended in accordance with the relevant decision will come into force on 1 April 2017.
