CFDA Issues Guideline on Health Food Filing

The China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) recently issued a circular on matters concerning the administration of record filing for health food (see details in Chinese).

With effect from 1 May 2017, domestic manufacturers producing or importing health food as well as overseas manufacturers of health food using raw materials listed in the Health Food Raw Materials Directory (I) (see details in Chinese) shall file for record in accordance with the Administrative Measures for the Registration and Filing of Health Food and other relevant provisions (see details in Chinese). Domestic manufacturers shall file for record at their local provincial-level food and drug administration, while overseas manufacturers shall file for record at the China Food and Drug Administration.

Cases where there are changes in details shown on the Certificate of Health Food Registration and its attachments held by the original registrant or the expiry date has passed shall be handled in accordance with the record filing procedures. Products manufactured before the expiry of the registration certificate may be marketed until the end of their best before dates.
