China Adjusts Scope of Direct Selling Products

The Ministry of Commerce released on its website on 25 March the Announcement on the Scope of Direct Selling Products, stating that pursuant to Article 2 of the Regulations on the Administration of Direct Selling, the Ministry of Commerce and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) have adjusted the scope of direct selling products. The adjusted scope of the direct selling products is hereby announced:

  1. Cosmetics
  2. Cleaning supplies (personal hygiene products and household cleaning supplies)
  3. Health food
  4. Health care equipment
  5. Small cookware
  6. Home appliances

Direct selling products must comply with administrative licensing, mandatory certification and mandatory standards in accordance with laws and regulations.

The Ministry of Commerce and SAIC will make timely adjustment of the scope of direct selling products in the light of the development of direct selling business and consumer demand.

The Announcement will take effect on the day of its promulgation and Announcement No. 72 [2005] of the Ministry of Commerce and SAIC will be abrogated on the same day.
